About

Wayne Self is an award-winning writer, composer, and music director with deep spiritual and historical roots in rural Louisiana.

His 2013 play, Upstairs--the first staged work of any kind about the deadly 1973 arson fire at a New Orleans gay bar--premiered to a sold-out run and national press coverage, and was hailed as a "force of nature" by Theatremania.

His current play, The Foursight Saga, was a grand prize winner in the Hollywood-based New Musicals Inc Search for New Musicals and will see production this year.

His new comic, with artist Toru Buckwald, is a mystical southern gothic romance that explores and celebrates the trials and triumps of rural gay southerners.
